These chips, while still dependent on the CPU for certain tasks, introduced hardware acceleration features that significantly boosted performance. The Impact on Data Visualization
The emergence of graphics processors revolutionized how data was visualized. Before their advent, data visualization was constrained to static charts and graphs, typically created through manual processes. With the ability to generate visuals dynamically and interactively, graphics processors opened new horizons for scientific research, business analytics, and education.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, institutions began leveraging graphical computing power for advanced simulations and modeling.
